Nappy rash is common in babies right up to 20 months and is usually caused by chafing or wetness.
Even the most absorbent nappy leaves some moisture on a baby's delicate new skin, while a baby left in a dirty nappy for too long may also develop nappy rash. Remember that a baby's skin is nearly half the thickness of adults' and therefore more delicate and prone to damage.
There are times when your baby might be more likely to get nappy rash, so it's worth being on the lookout for the tell-tale signs of redness and irritation around the nappy area.
Metanium is a licensed medicine that is specifically formulated to soothe and effectively treat nappy rash. It also works as a waterproof, preventing urine and faeces irritating a baby's skin. Its active ingredients include Titanium dioxide 20% w/w, Titanium peroxide 5% w/w and Titanium salicylate 3% w/w. It is also lanolin free. Lanolin can result in an allergic reaction in some people, so Metanium is suitable for babies who may be prone to allergic reactions to it.
How to use:
How much should I use?
You only need a pea size amount of Metanium Nappy Rash Ointment to treat the sore areas. Spread the ointment thinly so the skin texture can be clearly seen through the ointment and repeat at every nappy change until the symptoms of nappy rash disappear. If nappy rash persists consult your health visitor or GP.
When should I use it?
Apply a little Metanium as soon as nappy rash starts to develop and before your baby has the chance to get grizzly.
How do I remove Metanium from my baby's skin?
The easiest and most gentle way to remove Metanium is with a little almond, olive (although not extra virgin as this may irritate the skin) or baby oil applied with cotton wool.
